No. Both companies are still writing homeowners insurance in Florida in 2026. Neither has filed to withdraw from the state. If you received a non-renewal letter, the company is not closing its doors. In most cases, something about your policy, your home, or your agent relationship triggered it. We break it down below. Each situation has a different fix.
Florida has seen more than 20 insurance companies go insolvent or leave the market since 2020, which is why many homeowners assume companies like Edison or Frontline are next. They are not.

Is Edison Insurance leaving Florida? No. They are still actively writing.
Edison Insurance Company of Florida was founded in 2005 and writes exclusively in Florida. They hold an "A Exceptional" Financial Stability Rating from Demotech and an A+ from the Better Business Bureau.
Edison has not filed to exit the Florida market. They are writing new policies. Our team works with them directly.
Is Frontline Insurance pulling out of Florida? No. Here is what their rating history actually means.
Frontline has been writing homeowners insurance since 1998 and manages approximately $1.5 billion in active premiums in Florida and four other southeastern states.
In January 2023, Frontline ended its relationship with Demotech following a dispute over the rating process. According to Demotech's own public statement, the withdrawal was not based on Frontline's financial condition.
Frontline moved to KBRA, formerly Kroll Bond Rating Agency, which assigned both operating companies a BBB+ financial strength rating accepted by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. KBRA reaffirmed those ratings in August 2025, citing four consecutive years of underwriting profitability.
Frontline is not leaving Florida. They have approximately 900 active agent appointments in the state and are writing new business.

Florida law requires the letter to state a reason. That reason matters because each one has a different solution. There are three common causes.
The company is managing their exposure
This is the most common reason right now. The company is still writing in Florida but has tightened what homes it will cover. Older roofs, coastal ZIP codes, prior claims, and aging electrical or plumbing can all trigger a non-renewal.
The company is not going anywhere. Your home no longer fits their current model. The fix is finding a company whose model fits your home.
Your agent lost their contract with the company
Companies periodically reduce agent appointments. If your agent no longer represents that company, your policy may not be renewed through them even if your home is perfectly insurable.
Your home is not the problem here. You need a new agent who still has access to that company or to comparable options. This is an easier fix than most people realize.
Something specific to your home or claims history
An inspection finding, a required repair that was not completed, or multiple recent claims can all trigger a non-renewal on an individual policy.
Read the letter carefully. If a specific condition is cited, address it and disclose it fully when you shop. Trying to work around it almost always makes things worse.
Call us at (904) 268-3106. We can read the letter with you and tell you exactly what it means and what to do next. That call costs you nothing.

Still have questions? Here are the straight answers.
Is Edison Insurance Company of Florida financially stable?
Edison holds an "A Exceptional" Financial Stability Rating from Demotech and an A+ from the Better Business Bureau. They maintain reserves above Florida's state minimum requirements.
Is Frontline Insurance financially stable?
Frontline is rated BBB+ by KBRA, formerly Kroll Bond Rating Agency. That rating is accepted by both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. KBRA reaffirmed the rating in August 2025, citing four consecutive years of underwriting profitability.
Frontline ended its relationship with Demotech in January 2023 after a dispute over the rating process. Demotech confirmed the decision was not based on financial condition.
Can I get homeowners insurance after a non-renewal in Florida?
Yes. Most homeowners can. The key is working with an independent agent who represents multiple companies and knows which ones are writing in your specific ZIP code. We represent 80+ companies and check market availability daily. Call us at (904) 268-3106.
How long do I have to find new coverage after a non-renewal?
Florida law requires insurers to give you between 45 and 120 days notice before a non-renewal takes effect. Do not wait. Some situations require repairs or inspections before a new policy can be bound, and that takes time. Start the process as soon as the letter arrives.
What if my agent no longer represents my insurance company?
You may need a new agent, not necessarily new coverage.
If your home is insurable and the only issue is that your current agent lost their contract with the company, an independent agent who holds that appointment can often place you with the same carrier. Call us at (904) 268-3106 and we will sort it out quickly.
